Barbara Billingsley of Leave It to Beaver died Saturday at the age of 94.

Billingsley was most known for her portrayal of the classic TV mom, June Cleaver.

Judy Twersky, a family spokeswoman said that Billingsley had died of polymyalgia, a rheumatoid disease, at her home in Santa Monica, CA.

The actress had spoken fondly of Leave It to Beaver, saying that her character "was a loving, happy stay-at-home mom, which I think is great" and that "it was a happy experience for me, and very timely."

She is survived by her two sons, Drew Billingsley and Glenn Billingsley, Jr.

So sad. We'll miss America's favorite mom.

The first two "Jackass" flicks shotgunned their way to the top of the box office. "Jackass 3D" will probably be no different. The only question should be if the third of Johnny Knoxville's stunt-heavy movies can top the opening of his second.

"Jackass Number Two" bowed to $29 million on over 3,000 screens in 2006. "Jackass 3D," by contrast, is set to screen in about 30 more theaters, and comes with an inflated ticket price, thanks to its third dimension. Some box-office experts are predicting the new movie will gross upwards of $30 million, which would make it the first film to cross that plateau since "The Expendables" in mid-August. Other B.O. authorities expect "Jackass" to land in the mid-to-high $20 million range.

Where the movie ends up at the end of the weekend will likely depend on its word-of-mouth. Here's what the critics are saying about "Jackass 3D."

The Story

"Like the show that inspired it, 'Jackass 3D' has no narrative. Rather, it's comprised of a nonstop series of stunts, pranks and stupid tricks that the now-established ensemble of idiots play on each other, and seemingly as often, themselves. Their leader, as always, is the indefatigable Johnny Knoxville, who subjects himself to many of the worst stunts despite being the one who most often gets the most injured. Meanwhile, there's Steve-O and Chris Pontius, stars of the 'Jackass' spin-off 'Wildboyz,' both of whom are still game to tackle whatever Knoxville makes them eat, wear, or in Pontius' case, not wear. Bam Margera is also back, terrorizing his parents Phil and April, as are his cohorts Dave England, Ehren McGheghey and Ryan Dunn. And then there's Preston Lacy and Wee Man, whose contrast in physical size continues to be a great source of humor." ? Todd Gilchrist, Cinematical

The Laughs:

"[N]ovelty has never been a prerequisite for hilarity with this franchise, and 'Jackass 3D,' like its forerunners, offers the spectacle of comedy pared down to its barest essence, stripped of the distractions of motivation, purpose and narrative. There's a certain purity to the way these jokers relentlessly pursue their oral/anal fixations, and their eagerness to degrade themselves is curiously ennobling. The troupe's likability goes a long way toward making it all go down easy; even their socially transgressive stunts, as when Knoxville dons his familiar dirty-old-man prosthetics, never approach Sacha Baron Cohen levels of mean-spirited anarchy." ? Justin Chang, Variety

The 3-D

"The 3D is utilized exactly as it should be for a 'Jackass' movie. For the majority of the film, it is lowbrow, over the top, and in your face. This is not an intimate exploration of the world of the Na'vi, this is a balls in your face, puke-fest. The opening and closing sequences, however, are strangely beautiful, even in their ludicrous hilarity. Fans will particularly enjoy the footage from the original series, and childhood photos of the boys, that run throughout the credit sequence." ? Roth Cornet, ScreenRant

The Dissenters

"The element of half-crazed, death-defying danger that was present in all previous 'Jackass' endeavors has faded, perhaps pushed out of the picture by girlfriends and wives and kids who, incidentally you'll see glimpses of during the movie's sappy, family photos themed closing credits. ... Still, there's plenty of pain, mostly in the form of ball punching, and Knoxville does do a quick run around a ring pursued by an angry bull. But none of it really feels as dangerous and on the edge as it once did. All that's really left of the Jackass facade is the ability to be gross and, getting old or not, they've still got that down." ? Josh Tyler, Cinema Blend

The Final Word

" 'Jackass' stands apart from similar shows and imitators because of the particular personalities involved, and because of the surreal sensibility that has always been such a big part of the show. Anyone can do a physical stunt, but these guys always build a context around the joke that takes it two or three steps beyond. And during the closing moments of the film, as they essentially unleash a soundstage apocalypse, leading into a closing credits sequence set to Weezer's 'Memories' that features footage from the full decade they've been shooting, there's a poignancy I wouldn't have expected from 'Jackass.' Ever. I think it's because we've watched these guys get older without growing up one little bit, and since we can't all get away with that, there is a freedom and, yes, a beauty to watching someone else pull it off." ? From the Heather Morris-starring scene-for-scene video re-creations to the sight of Lea Michele as a sexy schoolgirl to the debut of John Stamos, this week's Britney Spears-themed episode of "Glee" has everyone talking. But it has us singing. Without further ado, here are the lyrics to this week's "Glee"-cap!

Britney

You took over this week's "Glee."

Oh, baby you can hit me

One or two more times.

But when you act,

It's all sorts of crazy wack,

It's so good to have you back,

Even though you look 39.

A full hour of hits that are yours,

But then Lea performed Paramore.

[Jim speaks: What the f--- was that about?]

Oh, Britney, take these kids on tour.

[Jim speaks: Seriously, Heather Morris did Britney better than Britney ever did Britney.

Clip: Santana says, "Leave Britney alone!"

Jim: Sorry!
]

[To the tune of "... Baby One More Time"]

Oh, Stamos, Stamos,

How was I supposed to know

That you and "Glee" are besties?

Oh, Stamos, Stamos,

You're not singing "Kokomo."

No love for Uncle Jesse.

Mating with crazy eyes,

They're dating,

Schuester's fading,

Student's masturbating,

Oh, that's gross!

John Stamos has a dentist chair.

He gives "Glee" kids

So much sweet air.

When they go under,

They lose their mind.

Drugs are sublime!

Then it becomes Britney time!

[To the tune of "Everytime"]

Videos redone

Are so much fun,

But baby

Everytime "Glee" tributes

The plot falls by the wayside.

They just want you to buy

lots more soundtracks, baby.

"Glee" is structured like a porn.

They talk and then perform.

Scenes are shoehorned

Who needs story, baby?!

[Jim takes a hit of nitrous oxide, collapses.]

Last week's episode of "Glee" found Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) shouting, "It's a Britney Spears sex riot!" as she attempted to put a stop to the glee club's saucy rendition of "Toxic."

But she's not the only one who had an issue with the Spears takeover at William McKinley High School. The hit Fox show has come under fire as the Parents Television Council has deemed the "Britney/Brittany" episode the "Worst TV Show of the Week" due to the broadcast's "explicit sexual content."

A message posted on the organization's website decries the episode's "skimpy outfits" and "sultry grinds" during "I'm a Slave 4 U." And even though "Glee" castmembers show very little skin in the re-creation for the 2001 Madonna duet "Me Against the Music," the PTC said the interpretation included "plenty of girl-girl bumping and grinding."

According to the group, the tribute to the always-controversial Spears wasn't appropriate because the singer is far from a suitable role model.

"Glee earned its highest ratings ever with this Britney Spears tribute, drawing 13.3 million viewers," the message continued. "A scary thought considering that the mostly young teen/tween audience basically witnessed an endorsement of narcotics abuse, public masturbation, and school-sanctioned burlesque. But perhaps most troubling is the deification of a troubled pop star into a symbol of empowerment and self-esteem. Considering her stints in rehab, her very public breakdowns, and her questionable parenting skills, there is absolutely no way Spears should be considered a role model. The producers of the show can spare us the old song-and-dance about fallen celebs turning their lives around. What's next? Portraying Ike Turner as a reformed feminist?"

Spears knows controversy and criticism far too well. Since the beginning of her career, she's always raised eyebrows with everything from her sex-kitten public image to her sometimes-questionable parental judgment. While the pop star has played it relatively safe since her comeback, the singer did make headlines last year for her suggestive single "If U Seek Amy," the third offering from her album Circus.

Do you think the "Britney/Brittany" episode of "Glee" was inappropriate? Tell us in the comments below!

Even if they didn't walk away with Moonmen, just about everybody who attended the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards exited the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles a winner. Taylor Swift started some buzz with new music, and Paramore's Hayley
Williams finally got to do a live tag-team with B.o.B. Another winner in spirit? Ke$ha, whose first visit to the VMAs was a positive one.

"It was amazing. I got to wear a garbage bag on national TV," Ke$ha gushed on the red carpet at the premiere of the second season for the HBO show "Eastbound and Down." "It was fun. It was good. And I got nominated for four, and it was a dream come true just to be there."

The 23-year-old singer, who did indeed wear a dress made from garbage bags, was impressed with the level of fashion experimentation at this year's show. "It was fun. I think everybody was having fun with it," she said. However, she is not entirely sure she would be able to take the steps that Lady Gaga did with her head-turning meat-based ensemble. "I don't know if I could actually put raw meat on me," she admitted.

With the VMAs behind her, Ke$ha is working on a new album, but was mostly excited to get out and support her favorite show on television. "I don't watch TV, but this show I connect with on a really deep level," she said. "I kind of feel like I'm the female version of Danny McBride: Kind of white trash, just ready to party."

The Moonmen have all been handed out and the stars have gone home, but there's plenty of 2010 MTV Video Music Awards news, interviews, behind-the-scenes scoop, party reports and more still to come, so keep it locked on MTVNews.com.

On Friday, T.I. was slapped with an 11-month sentence for violating the terms of his probation, but his lawyer said the MC didn't anticipate the severity of the punishment.

"Of course he's disappointed in the sentencing, but at the same time, it's far less than what the government asked for," T.I.'s lawyer Dwight L. Thomas told reporters outside of the Atlanta courthouse. "This is not what he expected and this is not what he wants in his life at this point and time."

Last month the MC was arrested in Los Angeles after he and his wife, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, were found with drugs. The incident occurred months after T.I. was put on probation following a prison stint for a felony weapons charge. Thomas said the rapper will be on probation once again when he is released.

"He will have to remain drug free during the period of supervised release and we do not expect him to have any violations," Thomas said.

The Associated Press reports T.I. copped to an ongoing struggle with drugs and implored the judge for assistance.

"I want drugs out of my life. If I can get the treatment and counseling I need ... I can beat this," T.I said. "I need help. For me, my mother, my kids, I need the court to give me mercy."

Thomas also responded to assertions made by U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates that the superstar rapper turned in diluted urine samples for drug tests.

"There are lots of reasons for diluted urine. One can drink a lot of alcohol at night ... as the judge indicated, you could be very tired, you could be very dehydrated and you hydrate excessively," Thomas said. "That could give an indication of diluted urine but not necessarily ... intentionally diluted urine."

Thomas did not say whether he felt the sentence was excessively harsh. "The judge made his ruling and we respect that ruling," he maintained.

Hours after T.I.'s sentence was handed down, the superstar lyricist dropped the song "Get Back Up," which features vocals from fellow embattled star Chris Brown. The ATL spitter concedes he has messed up and rhymes about the pressures of fame.

"I admit, yeah, I done some dumb sh--," he raps. "Disappointed everybody, I know/ Try not to hold that against me, though/ My road to redemption has no GPS/ So guess time must be invested for this to be manifested/ Yes, it's hard living life in the spotlight/ Trying to dodge the haters the same time as the cop light/ The Bible says let he without sin cast the stone first/ The sinners are the ones that judge him, who was wrong first?"

On Thursday (September 30), Britney Spears met with a judge in Los Angeles to discuss the current status of her conservatorship, which she has been under since February 2008.

TMZ reports that Judge Reva Goetz had requested a meeting with the pop star after the judge had discussed ending the conservatorship with Spears' lawyers at the last few status meetings.

Spears' father, Jamie Spears, was also present in the judge's chambers during the progress meeting. He left the courtroom minutes after Britney, who wore a black dress and black ankle boots.

It was decided that Spears would remain under her conservatorship, according to TMZ. The judge took the stand to announce: "At this time, all orders will remain in full force and effect." The decision came after she met with Spears and her father individually. The judge did give the OK to approve "investment strategies" for Britney's trust; a petition had been filed regarding that matter.

While there seems to be no change in Spears' personal life, she has certainly been a force to be reckoned with since she released her 2008 album Circus. She's managed to once again top the charts, mount a successful tour and even try her hand at acting. This week alone she brought some star power to "Glee," which tackled her hit-filled catalog, including "Me Against the Music."

Much has been rumored about what Spears is working on as far as a follow-up to Circus. After it was reported that Spears might release new music sometime this year, her manager, Adam Leber, was quick to clear the air.

"No new music news right now....Wish people wouldn't mislead you guys with BS info," he wrote on Twitter in August. "Not cool! PS- The guys that ARE working on Brit's next album ARE NOT talking about it..."

What sets "Megamind" apart from this year's earlier villain-as-hero animated flick, "Despicable Me?" After all, they both follow an evil mastermind as he learns that evil might not be so great after all, and they both have minions. But you know what "Despicable Me" doesn't have? A Will Ferrell voice over, that's what.

So yes, the two films seem on the surface to be very similar, but judging by the first five minutes of the movie that have hit the web courtesy of Nickelodeon, "Megamind" has a definite charm that should win over the same audience that made "Despicable Me" a not-so-despicable hit.

The intro of the film follows the titular villain as he is sent away from his home world by his parents, who then die as their planet is sucked into a black hole. Some parents from a nearby planet that is also soon-to-be destroyed send away their son for the same reason, and thus begins the long-lasting rivalry between Megamind (Ferrell) and the Superman-esque Metro Man (Brad Pitt.

But it's Ferrell's commentary as Megamind narrates his youth -- he ends up being raised by prison inmates which is why he ends up so deftly schooled in the mores of villainy -- that makes the film so humorous. From what I've seen at Comic-Con, the film goes the unexpected route fairly quickly, but as long as Ferrell's G-rated humor remains the same, "Megamind" looks to be a film well worth seeing.

What did you think of the first five minutes of footage? Does the video make you want to see the movie? Let us know in the comments!

Rebecca Gayheart Is Out With Baby Billie

I think this is the first time I've seen Billie! Adorable! Don't you want to pinch those cheeks? Rebecca Gayheart was spotted out with the baby yesterday afternoon. They went to a private residence.

Can you make out Billie's personalized booties (click through the pictures below for a better look)? Too cute :) It looks like Rebecca is focused on being a full-time mom while Eric Dane is still busy with 'Grey's Anatomy.' As you other stay-at-home moms know, getting out is so important!

I hope they had a good time :)

Other B.O. authorities expect "Jackass" to land in the mid-to-high $20 million range.

Where the movie ends up at the end of the weekend will likely depend on its word-of-mouth. Here's what the critics are saying about "Jackass 3D."

The Story

"Like the show that inspired it, 'Jackass 3D' has no narrative.

Last Saturday we got to see some photos of actor Tom Cruise on the Prague set of his new sequel film Mission: Impossible 4 ? today we get to see new photos of Tom on set, but this time he?s taking a bit more of an active role in filming ? by doing his own stunts:

Tom Cruise showed off why he?s one of the highest paid action stars in the world as he filmed some daring stunts in Prague earlier today. The 48-year-old is currently in the Czech Republic working on the fourth instalment in his hugely popular Mission: Impossible Franchise. As well as his impressively limber moves Cruise also showcased his impressive toned physique as he stripped to the waist. Cruise looks to be in peak physical condition, with rippling arm muscles, a defined, washboard stomach and a six-pack many men half his age would kill for. Hanging from wires attached to the waistband of his dark green trousers, Cruise hung onto a pulley as he sped down a zip line that was suspended between buildings. Reprising his role as secret agent Ethan Hunt, Cruise simulated leaping from the third floor of a building onto a moving truck. Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner will be joining in the action with Cruise this time around, starring as Cruise?s number two in the movie. It has been rumoured that producers are setting Renner up as a possible replacement for Cruise in future Mission instalments, although the mega-star is expected to reprise his Hunt role for the fifth movie. In addition to Renner, Paula Patton and Josh Holloway have been added to the cast, along with returning cast members Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames.

Yes, Tom Cruise did get half-nekkid to film these new scenes. Wanna see what he looked like flying around Prague on suspension wires while shirtless? Check it out, after the jump ?

I have always been impressed with Tom?s affinity for doing his own stunts. While the work that he does may be dangerous, it also looks like a lot of fun. Truth be told, I?ll prolly end up seeing M:I4 when it eventually gets released ? I can?t wait to see how this scene in particular turns out. So ? Tom shirtless ? what do YOU think?

Madonna's "Glee" tribute episode might have been titled "The Power of Madonna," but it was the show's tribute to Britney Spears that reigned supreme. The broadcast, which featured cameos from the pop princess herself, drew 13.3 million viewers, leading the 8 p.m. hour and posting its best-ever rating among adults 18-49.

Tuesday night's episode, appropriately titled "Britney/Brittany," had a 5.8 rating and rose 4 percent from last week's season-two premiere. The feat made history for "Glee," as it becomes the first series since NBC's "Seinfeld" in 1993 to debut as the top series of the week and then spike in ratings the following week, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The episode, which highlighted Heather Morris' character Brittany S. Pearce, revolved around the McKinley High students' fight to perform Britney Spears numbers. Through anesthesia-induced sequences, the Gleeks tapped into their inner pop star to perform renditions of the singer's hits, including " ... Baby One More Time" and "Me Against the Music."

In addition to Spears' appearances on the hit Fox show, the singer took to Twitter during the West Coast premiere to thank fans for campaigning in support of the episode. "I loved it! Thank you guys SO much for making this happen!" she tweeted. The pop princess also gave props to the many song and video re-creations, including "I'm a Slave 4 U," saying, "Slave: Oh ... My ... God ...! Those little boys are SO cute! I know how hard it is to dance with that snake! Nice job."

Spears' manager, Adam Leber, also showed his appreciation for the episode, which spawned multiple trending topics on Twitter. "So glad you guys loved the GLEE episode! The Overwhelming worldwide response has been insane.3 of the top 10 worldwide trending topics.Sick! Big big big thank you to Ryan Murphy, the incredible cast and Brit's fans for making it happen...."

After such success, it wouldn't be surprising if the rumors of a second Spears-devoted episode came true, since "Britney/Brittany" only included hits from the first few years of the singer's career.

Hold on to your hats iPhone fans & AT&T Wireless haters ? cuz The Wall Street Journal has got some news that might be of interest to you. According to a new report from the WSJ, Apple has allegedly worked out a deal with Verizon to begin producing CDMA iPhones for their company which are said to be scheduled for sale sometime next year ? read on:

Apple Inc. plans to begin mass producing a new iPhone by the end of 2010 that would allow Verizon Wireless to sell the smartphone early next year, said people briefed by Apple. The new iPhone would be similar in design to the iPhone 4 currently sold by AT&T Inc. but would be based on an alternative wireless technology called CDMA used by Verizon, these people said. The phone, for which Qualcomm Inc. is providing a key chip, is expected to be released in the first quarter of next year, according to the same people. An Apple CDMA iPhone would spell the end of the exclusive U.S. arrangement with Apple that AT&T has had since 2007, when the original iPhone debuted. Separately, Apple is also developing a new iPhone model, said people briefed on the matter. One person familiar with the new iPhone plan said the fifth-generation iPhone will be a different form factor from those that are currently available. It was unclear how soon that version will be available to Verizon.

Naturally, neither company will go on the record for comment ? and even tho these Verizon/iPhone rumors tend to pop up every other day, I think the fact that the Wall Street Journal decided to go to press with this story gives this latest rumor much more credence then other rumors. If this turns out to be true, I would bet very good money that a huge surge of disgruntled AT&T customers would make a great exodus to Verizon. To be honest, I might be among the great exodii. You will note, however, that the article makes mention of an iPhone 5 ? which, I am presuming, may go to AT&T first ? which would keep everyone happy. Despite AT&T?s loss of iPhone exclusivity, I can see how Apple might appease them by offering them first dibs on new generation technology. Brilliant all around and Apple reaps all the bounty. I guess we won?t be able to count on any of this being true until we hear something official from either Apple or Verizon but ? this sounds very hopeful. Stay tuned ? we should be hearing something concrete very soon now that this report is out in the wild.

TJ Lavin remains in critical condition on Friday (October 15) after suffering several injuries from a ride gone awry at a Dew Tour Event in Las Vegas on Thursday evening.

His friend and business partner Chas Aday told MTV News that the pro BMX biker and host of MTV's "Challenge" competition shows said Lavin was put into a medically induced coma because he sustained bleeding in his brain. He also sustained an orbital fracture on his eye and a fractured right wrist. Contrary to reports, Lavin did not fracture his rib cage.

"I keep seeing that, but he doesn't have any broken ribs," Aday said.

The accident mars what should have been Lavin's triumphant goodbye to competitive racing as Aday said his appearance was his last ride before he retired. The incident also comes a day after one of Lavin's friends sustained the same injury and is currently recuperating in the same hospital five beds away. Lavin hasn't been conscious since the accident, but Aday, who has known the BMX-er for nine years, said he would have a simple but significant message for athletes out there.

"It's important to wear your helmet with any motor sports," Aday said.

He added that the longtime racer would also want to assure his fans that he's going to pull through. "He'll be OK and back to it," Aday said. "He's a fighter."

Lavin lost control of his bike while riding in a Dew Tour stop at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel and was knocked unconscious after his feet were unable to reach the bike's pedals mid-stunt.

"Our thoughts are with TJ," an MTV spokesperson said. "He is an important part of MTV's extended family and we're all praying for him."

for everyone

For much of the past decade, the MTV Video Music Awards has really been two shows: The one where they hand out the Moonmen, and the one that occurs on the red carpet, where the stars try their very best to outdo each other with over-the-top arrivals.

From yachts to 18-wheel trucks, elephants to horse-drawn carriages, how you arrive at the VMAs has become just as important as whether you take home an award. As you can probably imagine, sometimes, things get a little crazy.

"Usually, artists don't let us know [how they're arriving] until the last minute, which makes things interesting," Video Music Awards Pre-Show executive producer Ryan Kroft told MTV News. "A lot of times, they'll want to do things like land a hot-air balloon on the carpet, or drive a car down the carpet, but generally, the fire marshal frowns on those kinds of things, so we have to tell them 'no.' "

Still, there are plenty of ideas that do get the green light, and they're just as epic as the stars that thought them up. And this year's VMA arrivals are no different, though for aesthetic reasons, they're slightly scaled back.

"In New York, we had stars arriving on a fire truck, a double-decker bus, but that wouldn't play this year," Kroft said. "The carpet is designed to look like the stars are arriving at a Hollywood Hills mansion ? white, chrome, glass ? so having someone arrive with a marching band would seem somewhat out of place."

But there are big arrivals nonetheless: One of the biggest involves 30 Seconds to Mars, who have already started touting their entrance as being thoroughly crazy.

"30 Seconds to Mars are recreating a scene from their 'Kings and Queens' video," Kroft explained. "They'll have an army of bicyclists arriving with them, and they'll be riding bikes themselves. Most of the bicyclists are from the video."

Going equally big is Ke$ha, who has a few surprises ready for the VMA carpet. We don't want to give it all away, but here's what we can reveal: "Ke$ha has big plans for the carpet. I can't talk about all of them, but she is arriving in a Delorean, which she got herself," Kroft said. "It'll be like 'Back to the Future.' "

And, in keeping with grand tradition, there are still plenty of stars who haven't said how they're going to be arriving ? Jay Sean is planning something "big and sexy," Soulja Boy Tell'em has some swaggadocious plans in the works, and Bruno Mars is still plotting, too ? and then, there's Lady Gaga, who ... well, you never know what she'll do.

"We still don't know what some people are doing," Kroft laughed. "The only way you'll know is to tune in to the VMA Pre-Show and watch."

The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday. The party starts with MTV News' VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for Best New Artist from now through Sunday.

James Gandolfini and David ChaseStill hoping that a cut to black and a Journey song won't mark the last time you ever see Tony Soprano? Don't stop believin' that a "Sopranos" movie will happen one day (though we kind of doubt it)... but take some solace in knowing that series creator-writer-producer-director David Chase is all set to roll cameras on his first feature film.

Paramount Vantage announced in a press release today that writer-director Chase will begin production on the as-yet-untitled movie, described as a "music-driven coming of age story set in 1960s suburbia," this January in New York City. Up-and-coming actors John Magaro (currently in theaters with the horror flick "My Soul to Take"), Jack Huston ("The Twilight Saga: Eclipse") and Will Brill (making his feature film debut) are set to star.

And, in welcome news for fans of Chase's HBO show, the statement also revealed that "Sopranos" star and Bruce Springsteen E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt will produce and supervise the music, as well as serve as executive producer, for the film.

"It's exciting to be working with [Paramount chief] Brad Grey again, doing my first feature," Chase said in a statement. "I look back with pleasure on our last outing. I am also thrilled to be working with Steven again, especially on this particular subject. It's not just that we both worship the same songs and bands from the era -- it's that he obviously knows so much. About every aspect. He embodies a particular spirit of a particular kind of rock and roll. He actually is that spirit."

With so many details under wraps, it's hard to know exactly what to expect from the film. But if "Sopranos" is any indication, a music-driven movie is right in Chase's wheelhouse. So many great moments in the series -- from the opening credits each week to the series' haunting final scene (set to a Journey power ballad, of all things) -- have been enhanced by song that it's hard to imagine music not being an integral part of Chase's feature debut. To paraphrase Sun Tzu in 'The Art of War": Bring it on.

Peter JacksonMiddle-Earth, baby, Middle-Earth!

It's been a process years in the making -- one that's been plagued by financial woes, years of production delays and the departure of original director Guillermo del Toro -- but at long last "The Hobbit" has reportedly been green-lit (finally!), with MGM and Warner Bros. okaying a production start date of February 2011.

The Wrap broke the news, citing the ever-popular "source close to the production," and a rep for Warners' New Line Cinema had yet to respond to MTV News' request for comment as of press time... so we're reserving all-out debaucherous celebration until we get the official confirmation.

For now, we're tentatively optimistic. And, as if the project getting the go-ahead wasn't cause enough for diehards to start throwing Elvish feasts, the website goes on to state that Peter Jackson has finalized his deal to direct the two-part "Lord of the Rings" prequel. In the words of Homer Simpson, "Woohoo!"

Jackson had been on board to co-write and produce "The Hobbit" from the get-go. When del Toro forfeited the director's chair five months ago to work on other projects, fans the world over began clamoring for Jackson to step in, arguing that no one else would suffice. With news that Jackson is locked in to direct, it appears the filmmaker will get to complete his vision for the translation of J.R.R. Tolkein's beloved books to the big screen.

Though reports have varied, the combined budget for the two films is said to be in the $400-500 million range. The first film is slated for a December 19, 2012, release, with the second pegged for a theatrical bow in 2013.

Once the green light and Jackson's role as director have been unequivocally confirmed, the only remaining question is: Who will play Bilbo Baggins? Andy Serkis and Ian McKellen are reportedly on board to reprise the roles of Gollum and Gandalf, respectively. With none of the other members of the original Fellowship set to return, it will have to be someone pretty freaking awesome. May we suggest Martin Freeman, the star of the British "Office" and del Toro's rumored top pick? If not him, Simon Pegg will more than suffice.

Who would you like to see play Bilbo? And are you encouraged by the news that "The Hobbit" finally, finally, finally has the green light?
